Acupuncture for healthy
pregnancy
In China acupuncture has been the primary system of women’s health
care for over 3000 years. Today it is a safe and effective complimentary
medicine to midwifery and Western medicine.
Acupuncture can help you maintain your healthy pregnancy. It can also effectively
treat many of the issues that may arise throughout your pregnancy, such
as:
First trimester
Threatened miscarriage | Nausea | Low energy | Spotting
Second trimester
Heartburn | Backache and sciatica | Hemorrhoids | Symphasis pubis pain
Third trimester
Edema (water retention) | Insomnia | Anemia | Headaches | Leg cramps
| Carpal tunnel syndrome | Anxiety | High blood pressure | Baby
not growing
| Premature labor
Acupuncture is a safe and natural way to induce labor
If you are past your due date and have had a healthy no risk pregnancy,
you can opt for an acupuncture induction. Labor usually starts
between 3 and 42 hours after the treatment.
Turning a breech baby
Turning a breech baby does not require needles. A point on the
mother’s
little toe is stimulated by heat from burning an herb called
Moxa. This method of turning a breech baby is painless and safe
for both mother and
baby. It is more likely to be successful when done between weeks
32-35 of your pregnancy.
Postpartum
Acupuncture can help restore a mother’s energy and well-being after
delivery, and help with the following postpartum health issues:
Postpartum depression | Weakness and low energy | Increasing
breast milk production | Blocked ducts in the breasts | Urinary
incontinence |
